Destiny 2, Gaming Guides

Destiny 2: Season of the Deep has finally arrived, introducing a range of new weapons to the game’s expanding arsenal. Whether they are brand new, reprises of old favorites, or returning after being sunset, these weapons offer exciting perk options.

In this god roll guide, we will explore the optimal perk combinations for both PvE and PvP for the Targeted Redaction, aka the Taken Spare Rations – a new, craftable 120 RPM Hand Cannon in Destiny 2 Season 21!

Targeted Redaction PvP God Roll

Barrel: Corkscrew Rifling +5 to Range, Stability, and Handling.
Magazine: Accurized Rounds +10 Range.
Trait #1: Invisible Hand This column does not need a Reload Speed-increasing perk due to the new Origin Trait on this hand cannon. Hence, we can craft it with this new perk which rewards you (increased stability) for missing your shots. You can also prefire around corners to intentionally proc the effects!
Trait #2: Explosive Payload While this perk doesn’t increase the overall damage in PvP as it does in PvE, it has always been a must-have due to how much it makes your opponents flinch – which often becomes the deciding factor in winning or losing a duel!
Origin Trait: Unsated Hunger Increased handling, reload speed, and stability when no abilities are fully charged.
Masterwork: Stability +10 Stability.
Mod: Targeting Adjuster +5 Aim Assistance.

Targeted Redaction is essentially the 120 RPM Taken version of the 140 RPM Spare Rations – and it is currently one of the best hard-hitting hand cannons you can use in The Crucible! However, one drawback this archetype is known to suffer from is low Reload Speed and Stability. Fortunately, the new S21 Origin Trait, ‘Unsated Hunger,’ counters this drawback by offering a unique advantage. Unlike the ‘Surplus’ perk that provides increased Handling, Reload Speed, and Stability for each charged ability, Unsated Hunger rewards you for not having any charged abilities!

Targeted Redaction PvE God Roll

Barrel: Corkscrew Rifling +5 to Range, Stability, and Handling.
Magazine: Tactical Mag +1 Magazine, +5 Stability, +10 Reload Speed.
Trait #1: Triple Tap Explosive Payload increases the weapon’s overall damage, and the payload part has no damage falloff. On the other hand, Destabilizing Rounds shines as a superb option for clearing out ads, filling the void left by the absence of Volatile Rounds.
Trait #2: Explosive Payload/Destabilizing Rounds Explosive Payload increases the overall damage of the weapon, and the payload part has no damage falloff. On the other hand, Destabilizing Rounds shines as a superb option for clearing out ads, filling the void left by the absence of Volatile Rounds.
Masterwork: Stability +10 Stability
Mod: Minor Spec Increased damage to rank-and-file combatants.

While Hand Cannons may not dominate the PvE meta, they are far from becoming irrelevant and have, in fact, gained significance this season! The ‘Unstoppable Hand Cannon’ Artifact Perk allows them to effectively stun Unstoppable Champions in endgame activities. This is especially valuable since the alternative option, Unstoppable Glaives, are somewhat underwhelming. With these perks, the Targeted Redaction becomes a versatile ad-clear weapon with any subclass equipped!

Deep Engram Decoding in Destiny 2 Season 21: Season of the Deep

Targeted Redaction is a craftable Season of the Deep (S21) weapon, and you’ll need to extract five patterns (Deepsight Resonance) to unlock it for shaping (crafting) at The Enclave. Since it is a seasonal weapon, there are essentially four ways to farm for its ‘red borders’:

  • Completing the quest steps for the Seasonal Quest, Into the Depths.
  • Completing missions in the Salvage playlist in the H.E.L.M.
  • Decoding Deep Engrams at the Sonar Station in the H.E.L.M.
  • Focusing it after unlocking the ‘Deep Weapon Focusing’ upgrade for the Sonar Station.

Note: In Season 21, upgrades and Seasonal Bonuses are no longer unlocked directly at the vendor. Instead, they are now tied to Seasonal Challenges, which can be accessed in the Quests tab under the “Season of the Deep Seasonal Challenges” section.
