Lucky Hit Chance is a new modifier that joins the extensive list of status effects, buffs, and debuffs in Diablo IV (Diablo 4). However, as often is the case – the game doesn’t explain it clearly, often leaving players scratching their heads. But fear not! In this article, we’ll break down Lucky Hit Chance and provide all the information you need to make the most of it in your Diablo 4 gameplay.
Diablo 4 Lucky Hit Chance Explained
Lucky Hit Chance in Diablo 4 is an RNG-based mechanic that is a percentage chance to automatically trigger unique effects upon landing a hit. Unlike Critical Hits or Overpower, a Lucky Hit doesn’t directly result in extra damage. Instead, it activates various effects that are specified on your gear. There is a wide range of effects that a Lucky Hit can trigger, but one of the most common ones is “Execute.” When activated, Execute allows you to instantly dispatch non-elite enemies that are already Injured.
Below are some key points to keep in mind to better grasp this unique mechanic and make the most out of it in your builds:
1 | Don’t Confuse with Critical Strike Chance
Lucky Hit Chance and Critical Strike Chance are completely different stats that should not be confused. While Critical Strike Chance determines the probability of your attacks dealing extra damage, Lucky Hit Chance triggers unique effects when activated. They have no direct correlation unless specified by a Lucky Hit effect. Critical Strike Chance results in Critical Strike Damage, while Lucky Hit Chance offers the chance for a unique effect to proc.
2 | Skill Lucky Hit Chance ≠ Gear Lucky Hit Chance
It’s important to understand that Skill Lucky Hit Chance and Gear Lucky Hit Chance are separate entities. Each weapon or Aspect has its own inherent Lucky Hit chance for activating specific effects. This essentially means that you will need to roll the dice multiple times in order to trigger your desired outcome. So, if you plan to build around lucky hits in D4, consider both the Lucky Hit Chance of your skills and the gear you equip.
3 | Enable Lucky Hit Chance From Settings
In Diablo 4, the Lucky Hit Chance stat is initially hidden to avoid overwhelming newer players. To reveal it and view your gear’s Lucky Hit Chance, navigate to the Gameplay Settings and enable the “Advanced Tooltip Information” option. Once enabled, you can access your character’s stat section to see your Lucky Hit Chance, as well as inspect your gear and Skills’ Lucky Hit Chances.
