Keen Games’ much-anticipated survival action RPG, Enshrouded, is just around the corner, and the excitement is reaching new heights. Following a successful closed beta and a widely acclaimed public demo during Steam’s ‘Next Fest’ last October, Enshrouded has already gained a strong fan base within the survival gaming community and garnered praise from content creators.
That said, one burning question for many gamers is whether Enshrouded will include microtransactions. Let’s dive into the details!
Does Enshrouded Have In-Game Microtransactions?
While we’re still waiting for an official confirmation, it appears that Enshrouded will not feature any microtransactions—at least at the time of its launch. Looking ahead, if the game does introduce microtransactions after the full-version release, they will likely be limited exclusively to cosmetic items.
Enshrouded is set to release as a Steam-exclusive game next week, marking the beginning of its Early Access period. Keen Games plans to refine and expand the game based on community feedback during this phase, with the goal of launching on other platforms, specifically PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, within a year. So—given that all goes according to plan—fans can anticipate the full version (v1.0) of the game in early 2025.
Only after the full version release will the discussion of microtransactions be on the table. Even then, any potential microtransactions will likely be confined to appearance-altering cosmetics. I would be thoroughly surprised if the game, belonging to the co-op survival RPG genre, were to introduce items that provide gameplay advantages or the ability to “skip the grind.”
Enshrouded’s Steam Early Access kicks off on January 24, 2024.
