Merlin Trials are one of the many puzzles you’ll encounter in your magical Hogwarts Legacy adventure, and it is a type of puzzle with multiple sub-types. As the name implies, these puzzles were designed and left behind by the legendary wizard and King Arthur’s court member Merlin, who took it upon himself to scatter them all around the Scottish Highlands.
Completing Merlin Trials is the only way to increase your inventory size (from the initial limit of 20) in the game, so make sure that you finish any that you come across while exploring the region outside of Hogwarts Castle. Each one should take no more than a minute to complete, so if you happen to pass one while flying on your broom, there’s no harm in stopping to finish it. That being said, don’t forget to stock up on Mallowsweet leaves! You will need these to begin the trial.
There are currently nine types of Merlin Trials that you can complete, each with its unique rules and mechanics. Here’s how you complete the ‘stone-slab’ version!
How to Complete Stone Slab With Green Jewels Merlin Trials in Hogwarts Legacy
To finish the stone slab variant of the Merlin Trials, you must know how to cast an exploding spell. Confringo is one such spell you can learn from Slytherin student Sebastian Sallow by completing the “In the Shadow of the Undercroft” main quest.
- STEP 1: Begin the Merlin Trial by interacting with the platform with the leaf symbol. As previously stated, Mallowsweet leaves are required to begin these trials. If you have run out of those, you may buy some at the Magic Neep shop in Hogsmeade or grow your own plants in the Room of Requirement.
- STEP 2: Cast Revelio and locate the stone slabs around the area. Look around and find the slabs marked in blue like so:
- STEP 3: Aim your wand and cast Bombarda or Confringo on each stone slab.
- STEP 4: Destroy every stone slab in the area to complete the trial.
