Hogwarts Legacy has its fair share of puzzles and mini-games scattered around the Hogwarts castle and the beautiful open world. While these puzzles are not that challenging to complete, you will need to know the mechanics of each one before you can attempt to solve them. One such puzzle is the “Arithmancy” door puzzle that you will find on some particular doors inside the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Here’s how you go about solving them!
How to Solve Arithmancy Door Puzzles in Hogwarts Legacy
The Arithmancy puzzle is one of the first puzzles you’ll encounter in the game, just after your introductory session with the Deputy Headmistress, Madame Weasley. If you cast Revelio near the door, you’ll notice that it hides at least one chest behind it. All the shapes and numbers might seem confusing initially, but don’t worry; you will have it down in no time!
There are three steps to solving this puzzle:
STEP #1: Decode the Code!
Around the doorframe, you will find ten symbols of familiar magical beasts, which serve as a hint towards solving these puzzles. Each character represents a different number from left to right, starting from zero, and you will need to substitute these symbols to answer the mathematical question that appears on the door.
STEP #2: Substitution!
When you reveal the door’s secrets, you will be presented with two mathematical puzzles, each of which has a large number inside the middle circle and three symbols or numbers organized in a triangle. You must arrange the numbers and characters so that they add up to the number in the middle. To do so, simply substitute the corresponding symbol into the “?” and “??” spaces.
Following that simple logic, here’s the solution to the puzzle in the first image:
STEP #3: Dial it in!
The final step is to find the dials placed around the puzzle to answer the problem and open the door.
