Gaming Guides, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

When beginning The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll discover that Hyrule is suffering from strange “Regional Phenomena.” Purah will direct you to four regions, each affected by a unique phenomenon: Hebra, Eldin, Gerudo, and Lanayru, and completing each region’s quest is necessary to progress through the game’s story. While you can complete them in any order, it’s best to follow a specific path based on your goals.

In this Gamer Haul guide, we’ll help you decide which Regional Phenomena to start with in Zelda: TOTK and determine the best order to complete the Regional Phenomena quests based on difficulty and reward!

If you want to follow the game’s recommendations and learn about its story as intended, we suggest starting with the Hebra Mountains (Rito Village). It’s beginner-friendly and the most straightforward (out of the four) to complete, making it a great starting point. Additionally, it leads you to other essential quests, such as the Lucky Clover Gazette, which spans across all of Hyrule. Starting here allows you to gradually complete other quests as you progress through the rest of the Regional Phenomena adventures.

With ‘progressive difficulty’ in mind, here’s my recommended order – from most straightforward to “most challenging without the right gear”:

  1. Rito Village – Hebra (northwest)
  2. Zora’s Domain – Lanayru (east)
  3. Goron City – Eldin (northeast)
  4. Gerudo Town – Gerudo (southwest)

Each region’s part of the quest will reward you with a new ability related to the weather biome it represents. To give you an idea of what to expect without spoiling the surprise, here are the Temples housed in each region:

  1. Wind Temple – Hebra
  2. Water Temple – Lanayru
  3. Fire Temple – Eldin
  4. Lightning Temple – Gerudo

So, if you’re still unsure which region to tackle first, you can refer to the list above and choose the element that intrigues you the most. When I first started playing Tears of the Kingdom, I had a similar mindset – if a game allows me to bring down lightning on my enemies, acquiring that power automatically becomes my top priority! Hence, I started with Gerudo. However, keep in mind that each region’s ability is useful in its own way, so choose according to your own playstyle.
