D2: How To Get Basso Ostinato – God Roll for PvP and PvE

Destiny 2, Gaming Guides

The Basso Ostinato is the newest Rapid-Fire Frame (Void) Shotgun added to Destiny 2 with Lightfall, and it is only available in the new Neomuna location. It can roll with several of the new perks introduced with Season 20, making it a potential ad-clear and DPS choice in PvE for any shotgun enthusiast. However, because it is a rapid-firing variant, it does lack viability in PvP.

In this god roll guide, we’ll review the best perk combinations for the Basso Ostinato, in both PvE and PvP, and how to acquire and farm one with your personal god roll perks in Destiny 2!

Basso Ostinato – God Roll for PvE

Barrel: Barrel Shroud +10 Stability and +10 Handling.
Magazine: Tactical Mag +1 Magazine, +5 Stability, and +10 Reload Speed. It’s not worth building Range on Shotguns of this archetype.
Trait #1: Lead From Gold This perk ensures you never run out of ammo for your shotgun and allows you to run double Specials more effectively.
Trait #2: Destabilizing Rounds / Trench Barrel Destabilizing Rounds, regardless of subclass, is a steady source of making all your targets Volatile. Trench Barrel, on the other hand, boosts Damage, Handling, and Reload Speed for three shots following a successful melee strike.
Masterwork: Reload Speed +10 Reload Speed.
Mod: Major Spec +7.7% more damage against Elites and Minibosses.

If you like getting close and personal to your targets and haven’t yet tried a Rapid-Fire Frame Shotgun in PvE, give the Basso Ostinato a shot. Because Lead From Gold in the third column grants Special ammo to the shotgun whenever you pick up Heavy ammo, you can effectively run double specials without running out of ammo. Destabilizing Rounds may not feel as good in Season 20, with the Volatile Flow artifact mod granting Volatile Rounds to any void weapon when picking up orbs of power. But it will undoubtedly be one of the most popular fourth-column perks in the coming seasons! By the way, if you are running a Melee build, One-Two Punch is an option, too.

Basso Ostinato – God Roll for PvP

Barrel: Rifled Barrel For the +10 Range.
Magazine: Accurized Rounds For more +10 Range.
Trait #1: Perpetual Motion Bonus Stability, Handling, and Reload Speed.
Trait #2: Opening Shot Bonus Range and Accuracy on the first shot out.
Masterwork: Range +10 Range.
Mod: Quick Access Sling For faster ready and stow.

Rapid-fire frame Shotguns are not viable in PvP, and I recommend running a shotgun with the Aggressive/Lightweight/Pinpoint Slug frame or a Fusion Rifle instead. That said, if you do manage to get a Basso Ostinato with the above perks, why not give it a shot in a Crucible Quickplay match?

Terminal Overload Location
Terminal Overload Public Event in Neomuna

The Basso Ostinato is a non-craftable shotgun exclusive to the new Neomuna destination. You can farm it by completing the  Terminal Overload activity in Ahimsa Park and opening the chest at the end with a Terminal Overload key. Note that Terminal Overload is a public event that rotates around the three regions in Neomuna on a daily basis. Each region has a different weapon reward, so you’ll have to wait till the Vex Incursion Zone is in Ahimsa Park to farm the Shotgun.
