Dead Island 2 is an upcoming first-person action RPG developed by Dambuster Studios and published by Deep Silver. It is the sequel to the 2011 video game Dead Island, which is considered one of the best zombie games of all time. Dead Island 2 was announced way back in 2014 and was initially supposed to release in February 2023 (as revealed in Gamescom 2022). But in November 2022, Dambuster announced that the game would be delayed until April 28, 2023, to allow additional development time.
The official Twitter handle announced the new release date, revealing that the game is “out (one week) earlier” than the original April 28 date.
Latest Dead Island 2 Trailer
The latest DI2 trailer, “Extended Gameplay Reveal,” gives us a fourteen-and-a-half-minute glimpse of what we can expect from the game. We get to see a variety of weapons, abilities, combat mechanics, and the open-world setting, among other things. The gameplay starts a few hours after the introduction of the game and takes us through the streets of Beverly Hills and Bel-Air as one of the six playable characters, Dani, tests new weapons and shows off powerful skills.
Dead Island 2 Setting & Story
Dead Island 2 is set in an open-world, “gore-drenched,” and “hellish” Los Angeles that has been quarantined and the military forced to retreat due to the spread of a deadly virus that turns the city’s inhabitants into hungry zombies. The plot is set ten years after the events of Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide. The main character, aka Slayer, has been infected but is immune to the zombie virus. As you progress through the game, you will uncover the truth behind the outbreak and discover who you are – all while hacking and slashing through zombies with style.

Dead Island 2 Weapons
Dead Island 2 gives players access to a vast array of creative weaponry, from razor-sharp chef’s knives to sharp-shooting rifles. You can wield something light and quick, such as a pool cue, or use brutal heavy weapons. Like in Dying Light, you can also upgrade your weapons and retrofit them with DIY mods and perks at workbenches scattered throughout the city, taking the “creativity” aspect to the next level. The game promises an armory of never-getting-old weapons, from flaming katanas to electrified daggers to exploding hammers, at your disposal.
