Helldivers 2: Best Way to Beat Chargers (For Any Level)

Helldivers 2

Chargers: the nightmare-inducing critters of Helldivers 2. With their tough outer shell and lightning-fast charges, they’re a force to be reckoned with, ranking second only to Bile Titans in tankiness. Even the most experienced divers consider Chargers to be the most dreaded enemy type in HD2. But fear not! If you’re struggling against these deadly foes, I’ve got you covered with the best strategies and tips to take them down, no matter your level or mission difficulty.

How to Beat Chargers Easily in Helldivers II

You might encounter these speed demons as early as Medium-difficulty missions, but they really start swarming in Challenging and higher difficulties – where you’ll often find yourself facing not one—but pairs of Chargers at a time! And while Helldivers 2 boasts an impressive and expansive arsenal, not all weapons are created equal when it comes to dealing with Chargers. Here’s what I recommend based on your diver’s current level in the game:

Below Level 10

If your diver is still finding their feet and hasn’t hit Level 10 yet, fear not – the EAT-17 Expendable Anti-Tank is your best friend. Use this rocket launcher to strip a Charger’s front limbs of their armor, then unleash hell with your primary weapon. Surprisingly, Chargers are more vulnerable in the legs than their rear end – a fact you can exploit for maximum damage. You can unlock the EAT Support Weapon Stratagem as early as Level 3 via the Ship Management computer.

Up to Level 20

Once you hit Level 10, it’s time to bring out the big guns – literally. The FLAM-40 Flamethrower is your go-to weapon against Chargers (and pretty much any Terminid). But be warned: getting up close and personal means you’ll need some serious evading and dodging skills to evade their lightning-fast attacks. Luckily, at Level 10, you also unlock the Guard Dog Rover Stratagem – a flying drone that’ll handle the rank-and-file enemies while you focus on the main boss, i.e., the Charger.

Level 20 and Above

By Level 20, you’re a seasoned Helldiver – and you’ve got the gear to prove it. Enter the Railgun: the game’s most broken weapon (in the best way possible). Just two shots to a Charger’s front legs will break through its armor, leaving it wide open for your shotgun or assault rifle to finish the job.

And there you have it, folks – everything you need to know to take down a Charger at any level in Helldivers 2. Drop a comment if you picked up some new tricks, and stay tuned to Gamer Haul for more top-tier content.
