Solve Grandfather Clock Puzzles RE4 Remake – Resident Evil 4 (2023), a third-person horror survival game developed by Capcom, is the remake of the 2005 original Resident Evil 4 – a game widely regarded as the pinnacle of the RE series. The game features new gameplay elements and a complete overhaul of the visuals, serving as a complete remaster of the original game.

Well-thought-out puzzles are not new to the Resident Evil series, and the “Grandfather Clock Puzzle” is one such puzzle you’ll encounter while playing as Ashley during Chapter 9 of RE4 Remake. Thankfully, this one doesn’t need a lot of brainstorming or trial-and-errors to solve, and in this guide, we’ll walk you through exactly what you need to do to proceed to the next area!

RE4 Remake: Grandfather Clock Puzzle Explained

While playing as Ashley in Chapter 9, you’ll stumble upon the Grandfather Clock puzzle on two doors in the Library section. Of course, any puzzle involving any sort of clock has something to do with time, and this one is as simple as Resident Evil puzzles can get. All you have to do is set the hour and minute hands to the correct time, and voila! The door will unlock. But keep in mind: the “correct” time may differ based on the difficulty level you’re playing on.

Don’t forget to use your lantern to fend off the Knights as you make your way between the clocks!

RE4 Remake: Grandfather Clock Puzzle Hint & Solution

You’ll find the clue to solving the Grandfather Clock puzzle on a ‘Hastily Written Note’ on a table at the back of the room (upstairs) where the first door is. On my Standard difficulty playthrough, the note read “11:04,” which is the correct time to set the clocks to unlock the doors. However, if you’re playing on Professional or Hardcore difficulty, the note will display “VIIXII,” which translates to “7:00” – this is the correct time you’ll need to set the clocks to open the doors.

Once you know what time you need to set on the clock, interact with the door and set the correct time using the L1 and R1 (or LB and RB) buttons on your controller:

RE4 Remake: Grandfather Clock Puzzles Location

In the Library area, you can find two doors with a grandfather clock: one on the upper level and the other on the lower level. To open the respective locked doors, you’ll need to set the same time on both clocks, and the required time will vary depending on the difficulty level you’ve selected. Check out the location marked on the maps below to find these doors:
