Starfield PS5 – Starfield has been in development for over seven long years, and it’s safe to say that it’s one of the most eagerly anticipated game releases of our time. The excitement is reaching its peak as Bethesda’s brand-new universe prepares to launch on September 6th, with Digital Premium Edition owners getting early access as soon as September 1st. But as we all wait with bated breath, there’s a burning question that’s on everyone’s minds.
And that question is: Will Starfield be gracing the Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5), or is it going to be an exclusive treat for Xbox and PC players?
Will Starfield be Released on PS5?
Sadly, the answer is no, Starfield won’t be making its way to the PS5. Now, this might come as a bit of a shock and, let’s admit it, a bit of a downer for all you PlayStation devotees out there. But it is not completely unprecedented, either!
The reason behind this exclusivity lies in Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda’s parent company, ZeniMax Media, in a landmark $7.5 billion deal back in 2021. This acquisition firmly places Bethesda’s future productions under the umbrella of Microsoft. As a result, all future titles from the iconic studio are now considered first-party titles. And, you guessed it, they’re going to be exclusive to Xbox consoles and PC – Microsoft Windows, to be precise.
So, while this might be a bit of a downer for the PS5 crew who were hoping to traverse Starfield’s galactic terrain, it’s all part of a bigger picture. It’s a landscape where gaming alliances and rivalries are shaping the way we play and enjoy games on our chosen platforms!

In a nutshell, while the PS5 won’t be home to the mysteries of Starfield, the Xbox and PC communities are all set to embark on a unique cosmic adventure. The game is available for pre-order on Steam, and the Microsoft/Xbox Store, and its official launch is scheduled for September 6th. Early access kicks off on September 1st for Digital Premium Edition holders!
